Organic SEO

Organic SEO, meaning earned at every layer including the links.

Organic simply means the unpaid results, but it should also be a statement about method. Plenty of agencies describe their service as organic while quietly buying placements underneath it. Here it means the position is earned: technical obstacles removed, pages that answer the query, and links that came from coverage somebody chose to give you.

Straight answer

Most of the early gain is removing obstacles.

The instinct is to start building: more pages, more links, more activity. On most sites the first real movement comes from taking away something that is actively preventing the pages you already have from ranking.

What is usually in the way

  • Pages that are not indexed and nobody noticed
  • A migration that dropped redirects a year ago
  • Three pages competing for the same query
  • Canonicals pointing somewhere unintended
  • A slow template on the pages that convert
  • A backlink profile carrying somebody else's bad decisions

What earns the position

  • Clean indexation and honest status codes
  • One page per query, good enough to deserve it
  • Structured data that describes what is genuinely there
  • Speed measured on real devices, not in a lab
  • Coverage earned through digital PR and outreach
  • Internal linking that says what the site considers important

Said plainly

Organic is slower than paid and that is the honest trade. What you get for the wait is a position that keeps working after the invoice stops, and a site that is not one budget decision away from disappearing. What you do not get is a guarantee, from us or from anyone, because nobody controls the results and anyone offering one is describing terms nobody searches.

Scope

What organic SEO covers here.

The three layers, in the order they usually pay back.

Technical foundations

Indexation, crawl, canonicals, status codes and speed. Unglamorous, and consistently where the first measurable movement comes from on a site that has been running a while.

Architecture

What deserves a page, what should be merged, and how internal links distribute importance. The decisions that determine what the site can rank for at all.

Content that answers

Pages written to answer what was typed rather than to hit a word count, and existing pages rewritten where they are already close to winning.

Earned links

Digital PR and manual outreach, plus backlink audits and disavow calls where the history needs cleaning. Nothing bought, and no private blog networks.

Structured data

Entities and relationships described accurately, so a machine reading the site understands what it is looking at rather than guessing from the text.

Measurement

Reporting against the pages that earn, with the time ledger beside it. Enough measurement to know whether the money worked and not one tag more.

Cost

What it costs.

The £95 blended hourly rate, or a monthly package which is those hours multiplied out. Minimum engagement is 4 hours.

Foundation, 4 hours a month

£380/month

Holding ground on a settled site. Regressions caught, schema kept valid, and the small fixes that stop a healthy site decaying.

Growth, 8 hours a month

£760/month

The common one. A working roadmap: architecture, page rebuilds, copy where it is costing you, and one earned link push a quarter.

Programme, 16 hours a month

£1,520/month

Competitive sectors where technical, content and digital PR have to run at once rather than queue behind each other.

Every figure above is hours multiplied by the rate, so the arithmetic is yours to check.

FAQ

Questions clients actually ask

What is organic SEO, and how is it different from SEO?

They are the same thing. "Organic" distinguishes the unpaid results from the ads above them, so organic SEO simply means earning the position rather than buying it. The phrase exists mostly because people want to be clear they are not asking about paid search.

Where the word does useful work is as a promise about method: earned rather than bought, at every layer. That includes links, which is where a lot of agencies quietly stop meaning it.

How long does organic SEO take?

Technical fixes can move things in weeks, because you are removing an obstacle rather than building authority. Indexation problems, a botched migration or a page competing with itself are all in that category.

Earning position on a competitive term takes months, and on a genuinely contested one it can take a year or more. Anybody giving you a shorter answer without looking at the site is selling rather than estimating.

Do you buy links?

No, and this is where organic means something concrete. We earn links through digital PR and manual outreach, and we run backlink audits and disavow calls where a site has a bad history. We have advised clients to decline paid link and private blog network offers that came to them.

If buying links is the plan, we are not the right people, and it is better to establish that now than three months in.

Should we run paid search alongside it?

Often yes, and we do not sell it, so take this as a view rather than a pitch. Paid search answers the question of whether a term converts before you spend months trying to rank for it, which makes it genuinely useful as research as well as revenue.

What it cannot do is stop costing money. The argument for organic is that the position keeps working when the budget stops, and the argument against is that it takes longer to arrive.

How do you report on organic performance?

Against the pages and queries that make you money, not against a list of terms chosen because they were winnable. Rankings are a proxy, so they get reported alongside the thing that actually matters, which is whether the pages you care about are earning.

The time ledger sits next to it, including hours spent on work that was scrapped. Reporting activity as though it were progress is the main way agencies survive not producing any.

Not sure why the pages are not ranking?

Send the domain and the queries you expect to win. You get a straight answer on whether something technical is in the way, whether the pages are simply not good enough yet, or whether the term is not worth chasing.
